Huawei Mate 30 Series Lands In Malaysia; Retails From RM2799

After its grand launch in Munich last month, Huawei officially announced the arrival of its Mate 30 series in Malaysia. A follow-up to last year’s Mate 20 series, the new series comprises of the Mate 30 and the more premium Mate 30 Pro.

To recap, both the Mate 30 and mate 30 Pro are powered by Huawei’s new Kirin 990 chipset, 8GB RAM and a quad-camera main array. In regard to the last point, the Mate 30’s quad-camera module comprises a 16MP f/2.2 ultra-wide + 40MP f/1.8 SuperSensing wide + 8MP f/2.4 telephoto lens with OIS + Laser focus. Additionally, the camera has a maximum ISO of 204800 and a 45X zooming range (3x Optical, 30x Digital).

Moving on to the Mate 30 Pro’s quad-camera, its camera module features a 40MP f/1.8 ultra-wide Cine camera, a 40MP f/1.6 SuperSensing Camera, an 8MP f/2.4 Telephoto lens with OIS, and a 3D depth-sensing camera instead of laser focus. It’s also got a greater ISO range than the Mate 30, topping out at 409600.

Given the current political climate the US and China, selling the Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro without Google Mail services (GMS) is going to be both a tall order and a steep uphill battle. Until a time when Huawei is allowed to bring back GMS, the company does, remarkably, have a fallback plan with its Huawei Mail Services (HMS) ecosystem.

To that end, the brand is making a push for app development on the platform. In Malaysia, Huawei is making a push for app developers to integrate their apps into HMS through incentivisation. Specifically, the company is offering up to RM500000 for developers who are able to complete their app integration process by 31 October, 30 November, and 31 December of this year.

The Huawei Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro will be available starting today, and will retail for RM2799 and RM3899, respectively. Additionally, from 3 October until 22 October, as part of its Exclusive Ownership Program, consumers who purchase either device will be given a DJI Osmo Mobile 3, a Back Casing, SuperCharge Wireless Car Charger, and a 1-year Extended warranty and 6-months screen crack warranty under Huawei car. Absolutely free of charge.

Do note that the Exclusive Ownership Program is applicable to the Mate 30 Pro, and not the Mate 30.

Both the Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro can be purchased online via Huawei’s official online store. The phone is also being sold at all authorised resellers, and will soon be available at local telcos at a later date.
