Facebook Stops Allowing Its Apps To Be Preinstalled On Huawei Devices

Facebook is now another name in the list of companies that are cutting its ties with Huawei. The way the social media company is doing so is by not allowing its apps to be installed on the Chinese tech giant’s devices.

Reuters reports that this applies to even current devices that have not left the factory, not just newer models. Existing Huawei devices will still be able to use and update apps from the social media company. If you currently have a Huawei phone but it doesn’t come with Facebook’s apps, you can still download them from the Google Play Store.

With that said, future Huawei phones may have trouble doing so. This is simply because they may not come with the Google Play Store either. They will also have trouble keeping their Google Play Protect security services updated. This is because Huawei will have to wait until they are available on the Android Open Source Project.

As mentioned, Facebook is the latest addition to the list of companies cutting ties with Huawei since the signing of the US executive order. Other companies already in the list include Google, Intel, Qualcomm, ARM, and Micron.
