Razer Announces Kraken X; Makes Virtual 7.1 Sound Standard Moving Forward

Razer’s Kraken gaming headsets are no doubt the brand’s mainstay when it comes to audio products. The company has announced a new addition to the Kraken line, called the Razer Kraken X, which it calls the lightest gaming headset in the market.

The exact weight of the Razer Kraken X measures in at 250g. And like the previous refresh of the standard Kraken, it comes with a feature that first appeared on the Razer Nari – the channel for glasses built into the ear cushions.

The Razer Kraken X also features virtual 7.1 surround sound when used with a Windows 10 64-bit PC. Also, the company announced that this will be a standard feature for all future Razer headsets priced under US$99 (~RM412).

Though this price threshold may be a little different on the Malaysian Razer Store, since the Razer Nari Essential which costs US$99 is priced at RM529. Headsets at or above the stated price will instead get THX Spatial Audio as standard. The company also says that you can get the virtual 7.1 surround sound for your current Razer Krakens by registering their serial numbers here.

As for the Razer Kraken X itself, it’s priced at RM269. It’s already available on the Razer Store, if you choose to get it. It’s available in Classic Black, while another version comes with blue highlights is known as the Razer Kraken X for Console.
