Samsung aims to take on Apple’s AirPods with new Galaxy Buds

Galaxy Buds

Samsung has revealed a new pair of AirPod-like wireless earbuds at the company’s Galaxy S10 event, the Galaxy Buds.

At the outset, the Galaxy Buds look similar to the company’s Gear IconX wireless earbuds, only with what seems to be a slightly more ergonomic design and new, improved features.

Samsung says that the headphones feature an adaptive dual microphone, fast wireless charging compatibility and USB-C. Battery life wise, the headphones include five hours of talk time, six hours of Bluetooth playback and seven hours of charging in the earbud’s carrying case.

Further, since the Galaxy Buds’ charging case is Qi compatible, the headphones are capable of charging on Qi wireless charging pads, as well as reverse-charging with Samsung’s new Galaxy S10 and S10+.

Samsung created the earbuds in partnership with AKG, a notable audio brand the company purchased back in 2016.

It’s currently unclear how much the Galaxy Buds will cost in Canada or when the Bluetooth earbuds will be released.

This story will be updated with more information as it becomes available.
