ViaSat-2 is one of the world’s most advanced communications satellites and the Canadian Armed Forces can now utilize its technology.

The satellite was demoed at CANSEC 2018. It enables streaming of 4K content to thousands of devices at a time.

The new satellite is incredibly secure with Visat’s KG-250X programming, which has been approved by the Canadian Department of Defence.

“Viasat is committed to delivering the latest advancements in SATCOM technologies for U.S. and international coalition partners. The innovations in the new ViaSat-2 satellite and network further demonstrate that we can provide our allies and coalition partners with superior SATCOM and communications services,” said Ken Peterman, president of Government Systems at Viasat.

The Viasat-2 is the company’s first ultra-high capacity global satellite network. It has a lot of features from the commercial Viasat systems combined with some future tech that the company claims will be in the next Viasat-3 as well.
