Computex 2018: MSI Launches New MEG X399 Creation Motherboard

Besides notebooks (both professional and gaming) and a curved gaming monitor that is set to retail for less than RM2000, MSI also announced a new motherboard: the MEG X399 Creation.

The MEG X399 Creation is an AMD Ryzen Threadripper motherboard, and its launch comes just as AMD announced the existence of its upcoming 2nd-gen Threadripper CPU. It is designed to accommodate all of AMD’s existing Ryzen Threadripper CPUs. Like HEDT motherboards, the MEG X399 Creation is loaded with the latest on-board features that MSI has to offer.

To start, the MEG X399 Creation now comes with a 19-phases digital power design, which makes its a motherboard that is ideal for overclocking enthusiasts looking to push AMD’s Ryzen Threadripper CPUs. To enable it even further, it also comes with a dual 8-pin power port to help drive extra power to the motherboard.

On the subject of expansion options, the MEG X399 Creation includes up to four PCIe 3.0 x16 slots, eight SATA III ports, and three M.2 SSD on the motherboard. In regards to the latter, M.2 support can be further expanded to seven M.2 storage solutions via MSI’s M.2 Xpander-AERO PCIe card. Additionally, the on-board M.2 slots are also equipped with MSI’s own MSI Shield Frozr heatsinks.

Surprisingly, the motherboard comes with a dual Intel LAN and Intel Wi-Fi setup instead of Qualcomm’s Atheros Killer LAN setup.

MSI didn’t say when the MEG X399 Creation will be available in Malaysia, but suffice to say, a motherboard like this is likely to set consumers back a pretty penny.
