ZTE Is Among Samsung’s Plans To Expand Exynos Processor Sales

Samsung has made it no secret that it is looking to supply its Exynos processors to other manufacturers in order to increase profits. A more recent report has revealed that the embattled ZTE is among the number of companies talking to the Korean giant; which could lead to some interesting negotiations.

Inyup Kang, head of Samsung’s logic chip developer System LSI, said that the company is in talks with all OEMs; offering them the opportunity to become a Samsung customer. The company later clarified the statement in relation to ZTE, which is currently facing a seven year ban from America for violating sanctions on Iran and North Korea. The clarification claims that there is no certainty that a deal can be reached with ZTE, and that the company treats all vendors equally.

ZTE currently represents a difficult situation for many non-US companies looking to do business. Supplying the company could lead to legal repercussions; something that many corporations would rather avoid. Especially ones that come from a long time American ally like South Korea.

Things are even more complicated as US President is looking to lift the trade ban on ZTE due to economic talks with China.

At the moment, only Chinese manufacturer Meizu uses Exynos processors in its devices. Although, Kang expects to announce new clients during the first half of 2019.
