Nokia 5, Nokia 6 (2017) to Get Android P Update, Nokia 3 (2018) Spotted

HMD Global launched the Nokia X6 just earlier this week in China. As we’re already aware, Nokia is refreshing their previous models by improving the specs, design and other aspects. Nokia 6 (2018) has already made its way to the market after getting announced at MWC 2018.

Just like the Nokia 6, it appears as if Nokia will refresh last year’s models – Nokia 3, Nokia 5, and Nokia 2, as announced at MWC 2018.

One of the widely trusted leakers @rquandt has shared the screenshot of the Nokia 3.1 or Nokia 3 (2018) making its emergence in a user agent profile. This indicates that the Nokia 3 refresh is already in the testing round and should be arriving at the markets very soon.

Nokia 3 is a device targeted towards the budget or the entry-level users. Once the Nokia 3 (2018) reaches to the market specifically in India, it will be directly competing against Xiaomi’s Redmi series or Motorola’s upcoming G6 or the current Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1.

To add further,  HMD Global’s CPO Juho Sarvikas has also confirmed the support of Android P for both Nokia 5 and the original Nokia 6 (2017). Sarvikas replied to a Twitter query confirming that last year’s Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 is going to get Android P. This also substantiates Nokia’s promise of timely updates and continuous software support for 2 years.

The upcoming Android P will pack a bunch of new features including a material design,  a new App drawer, Smart replies, App Timers, Shush mode etc. You can read more about Android P in our Google I/O 2018 coverage.

This year HMD Global had already launched the Nokia 6 (2018), Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia 8 Sirocco. Now, the wait is for the Nokia 3 to enter into the budget segment. We will be updating you regarding all the announcements from HMD Global.
