Poco M2 Pro Launched; A Rebranded And Tweaked Redmi Note 9 Pro

Poco had recently launched the new M2 Pro smartphone in India. As with other devices under the brand, the new product is yet another rebranded Redmi smartphone but with some minor differences. To be exact, the Poco M2 Pro is a tweaked version of the Redmi Note 9 Pro that was released locally in May.

Like the original Redmi model, Poco’s latest smartphone features a 6.7-inch LCD display with a punch-hole selfie camera cutout. It also packs a Snapdragon 720G chipset paired with up to 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB internal storage. Similarly, on its right hand side is a fingerprint sensor that doubles as a lock button.

However, the M2 Pro’s battery does feature a slightly smaller battery at only 5,000mAh which is 20mAh less than the Note 9 Pro. Other than that, the device supports 33W fast charging via USB-C and features weather nano-coating protection by P2i.

While the new Poco smartphone also features a similar quad camera setup, the main difference is that it comes with a 48MP main sensor instead of a 64MP that was included with the Redmi version. The rest of the non-main sensors are unchanged, which consists of a 8MP ultra-wide, 5MP macro, and 2MP depth camera. Housed in the cutout on its display is a 16MP front-facing camera.

The Poco M2 Pro is available in blue, green and black colour options, and is scheduled to be released on 14 July exclusively via Flipkart. Pricing-wise, the phone retails at INR13,999 (~RM800) for the 4/64GB variant, INR14,999 (~RM856) for the 6/64GB, and INR16,999 (~RM970) for the 6/128GB model. As a comparison, the Redmi Note 9 Pro is priced at RM1,099 for the 6/128GB configuration in Malaysia.
