Epic Games Store Gets Official GOG Galaxy 2.0 Integration

GOG Galaxy 2.0 has been the launcher to use if you’re sick of seeing countless other launchers on your system. That being said, only one service has official integration with CD Projekt’s launcher, and that is Xbox Live. Until very recently, that is, as the Epic Games Store (EGS) has officially joined the club.

That being said, the official integration doesn’t really change much. It was already possible to integrate the EGS with GOG Galaxy 2.0 anyway, albeit through community mods. So if you’re already using it to manage your Epic Games library, then this wouldn’t change your experience much. But for others, this means getting your long list of free EGS titles into GOG Galaxy 2.0 without needing extra steps.

In a statement to PC Gamer, Epic Games Store general manager Steve Allison said “It’s an important step towards breaking down walls between PC stores, and it enables a unified experience for players to manage their PC games library independent of where their games were purchased”. Which sounds a tad hypocritical for a company that has been aggressively securing exclusives for its own storefront.

Company statements aside, it’s undeniable that the integration is a benefit to the consumers. But of course, the integration just means that you don’t have to interact with the EGS launcher to play games you got from there. It doesn’t remove or solve any issues that’s inherent to the platform.
