ASUS Introduces RT-AX89X AX6000 Gaming Router; Features Dual 10GbE Ethernet Ports
ASUS recently introduced the world to its RT-AX89X, its new high-end gaming router that clearly looks like a cross between a spider and the face-hugger in Ridley Scott’s Alien movies. The router comes with a total of eight antennas, all of which can be folded inwards for the purpose of being moved or transported.
Specs-wise, the RT-AX89X is designed to accommodate the new Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) standard. Combined with the eight dual-band antennas, the router is capable of achieving Wi-Fi speeds of up to 4804MHz on the 5GHz band and 1148MHz on the 2.4GHz band. Making it approximately three times faster than the standard 802.11ac routers with a 4×4 dual-band configuration.
More importantly, the router also supports MU-MIMO technology, allowing the router to effectively handle internet provision to multiple devices simultaneously and more efficiently.
Of course, wireless connectivity isn’t the only thing the RT-AX89X is limited to; the router is also fitted with dual 10GbE uplink ports, 1GbE WAN uplink, and eight Gigabit LAN downlink ports. Additionally, the 10GbE ports can also be reconfigured to act as LAN downlinks.
Additionally, the router also offers two 5Gbps USB-A 3.1 ports that can be used to connect with a mobile internet dongle or mass storage devices, such as a NAS. Lastly, Powering the router is a 2.2GHz quad-core processor, 1GB RAM, and a 256MB flash storage.
At the time of writing, ASUS did not specify local availability or pricing for the RT-AX89X.
