Apple Conducts Survey For iPhone Users Regarding Old Adapters

Late last month saw the emergence of reports stating that the Apple iPhone 12 may not come with a charger. It looks like this is a very possible eventuality. The company is recently conducting a survey, asking iPhone users what they do with their old power adapters. Specifically, the company is asking about the bit that you plug to the wall, and not the lightning cable.

The survey came to light after a Brazilian Twitter user @Gunstaxl shared it on the platform. Another Twitter user from Brazil, @bedabb_, sharing the survey in English. From this, the options that Apple provide, and that you can select more than one of, are:

  • Gave it to a family member or friend
  • Recycled it
  • Lost or misplaced it
  • No longer working or not working well
  • Still using at home
  • Still using it outside of my home (e.g., work, school, other location)

Considering the two tweets that have emerged, it is possible that Apple is only conducting this survey in Brazil. On one hand, this reinforces the possibility that the next iPhone may come without a charging adapter. It’s certainly a questionable decision, at least for potential new customers if not for returning ones.

Whether or not Apple releases this survey in other markets still remains to be seen. It’s probably unlikely, but let’s just hope the decision of whether a charging adapter is included with the upcoming iPhone 12 doesn’t get decided by a survey of  a single market.
