Twitter Will Prompt Users To Read An Article First Before Sharing It
Twitter has announced that it has begun testing a new feature in hopes of further reducing the spread of misinformation on its platform. Before allowing the user to retweet or share an article, Twitter will prompt them to read it first if they have done so yet.
“Sharing an article can spark conversation, so you may want to read it before you Tweet it,” said the company via its support account. “To help promote informed discussion, we’re testing a new prompt on Android — when you Retweet an article that you haven’t opened on Twitter, we may ask if you’d like to open it first.”

As mentioned earlier, the test is currently available on the Android platform at this time. Twitter did not mention if the new feature is planned to be added to the iOS or web versions of its platform.
“It’s easy for links/articles to go viral on Twitter,” tweeted company product lead Kayvon Beykpour. “This can be powerful but sometimes dangerous, especially if people haven’t read the content they’re spreading.”
