Samsung Galaxy Book S With Intel Lakefield CPU Announced

Samsung has recently unveiled a new Galaxy Book S laptop model, now equipped with an Intel Lakefield hybrid CPU. The brand previously launched the Snapdragon 8cx version of the ultra-slim laptop back in August of last year.

Overall, the laptop resembles last year’s model – with the same 13.3-inch FHD LCD touchscreen display, 42Wh battery, 1MP webcam, and quad AKG-tuned stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos. Similarly, the new Galaxy Book S also comes with 8GB LPDDR4x RAM, a choice of either 256GB or 512GB eUFS storage, and a microSD card slot that supports up to 1TB.

What sets this new Galaxy Book S apart from the Snapdragon variant is, of course, its Intel Lakefield CPU. Samsung did not provide much information regarding the processor aside from explaining that it features Intel’s Foveros 3D stacking technology and a hybrid CPU architecture.

Other than that, the new laptop will also include WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0 support, a fingerprint scanner, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and two USB-C ports. The device will ship with either Windows 10 Home or Pro operating system, and is available in two colour choices: Mercury Gray and Earthy Gold.

Samsung has not revealed the pricing and availability for the new Galaxy Book S at this time. Like its 2019 model, the laptop’s availability in Malaysia seems pretty, well… ultra-slim for now.
