PlayStation 5 Patent Depicts Picture-In-Picture Interface
Sony Interactive Entertainment has had a lot of patents published this year. Most of them also happen to be in relation to the upcoming PlayStation 5. A now one has surfaced, depicting additional items on screen beyond the game you’re playing.
The images in the patent depicts what looks like a video feed interface, with what looks like a chat box or comments section. This interface also seems to shrink the main screen a little to keep its aspect ratio. Alternatively, this can also be turned into a picture-in-picture format in a corner.
SIE also has a patent that depicts displaying gameplay from other players to help with clearing stages. This may be a way this two possible features will come together in a future console. But like the other patents we saw surfacing this year, this is assuming that this is indeed a PlayStation 5 patent.
The PlayStation 5 is set to be launched at the end of the year. Quite a ways behind the competition, SIE first revealed the upcoming console’s spec sheet, alongside a lengthy GDC-style talk about it. The company finally unveiled the console itself earlier this month. This came alongside a healthy number of games that will be coming out for the console.
