Spotify Rolling Out Group Session Beta Access To Premium Users Globally

Spotify has announced that it is rolling out Group Session beta access to Premium users worldwide. The new feature lets users share playlist playback controls such as playing, skipping and adding tracks in real-time with a group of friends or family members.

According to TechCrunch, the feature has been in testing since 2019 and was first discovered by researcher Jane Manchun Wong. As mentioned earlier, Group Session is currently in its beta, with more improvements planned to be added along its testing phase.

A user can host this session by inviting others via a scannable Spotify Code from their app. Since Group Session is available to Premium users, the feature is also accessible to other users who share the same Spotify Premium family account.

The music streaming service claims that the feature can support up to 100 users, but notes that participants have to be in the same physical space at this time. They added that Group Session will evolve over time as it learns more from user feedback, and is expected to expand beyond this current limitation in the future.
