English Premier League Expected To Restart In Mid June
The English Premier League (EPL) has reported that its shareholders have agreed to a new restart date, provided that all safety requirements are in place. League matches are expected to resume on 17 June and will take place behind closed doors.
In addition, they added that shareholders have also approved that all upcoming matches will be broadcast live in the UK via the League’s existing broadcast partners. These include partners such as Sky Sports, BT Sport, BBC Sport and Amazon Prime.
“Today we have provisionally agreed to resume the Premier League on Wednesday 17 June,” said EPL chief executive Richard Masters. “But this date cannot be confirmed until we have met all the safety requirements needed, as the health and welfare of all participants and supporters is our priority.”
Masters said that it is within the League’s interest to have as many fans as possible to watch the upcoming matches at home. “We will continue to work step-by-step and in consultation with all our stakeholders as we move towards resuming the 2019/20 season,” he added.
