Netflix Adds Screen Lock Feature Into Android App
Its appearance happened rather quietly, but Netflix has recently implemented a new feature into its Android app called Screen Lock. As per its name, the new feature is pretty much designed to avoid user’s Netflix experience from being disturbed by screen touches.
To activate the new Screen Lock feature, all one need to do is just press on the option that is located on the lower left part of the screen when they activate the playback control user interface on Netflix’s Android app. Once activated, a lock icon and Screen Locked label will then appear in the lower centre part of the screen which would disappear after a few seconds.
To deactivate the Screen Lock, just tap on the screen to activate the lock icon and then tap on it as well as the subsequent “Unlock controls?” prompt which would then allow users to access the app’s playback control UI once again.
Despite having the ability to lock the playback controls, you can still overcome the Netflix’s Screen Lock feature rather easily since it still allows you to access the Android navigation bar and gestures. Nevertheless, it is still a nifty feature that could help provide uninterrupted viewing on the popular streaming service especially when you are really deep into your binge-watching session.
Just recently, Netflix has also updated its Parental Controls settings with multiple new features including the ability to lock individual profile with a PIN number as well as deeper content filtering and data usage limitations.
