All COVID-19 Areas In KL Now Classified As Red Zones

In order to determined the seriousness of infections in areas affected by COVID-19 pandemic, National Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC) has labelled them according to colours. Those that have 41 cases and above are deemed quite critical which is why they are called Red Zone.

Among the latest areas that have added into the Red Zone list is Cheras with 18 new positive cases have emerged from the area which increased the total number of cases to 44. This turns the number of districts in Kuala Lumpur that have been classified as Red Zones up to four, out of 11.

The other three are Lembah Pantai with 376 cases, Kepong with 112, and Titiwangsa with 90. In total, this brings the number of Covid-19 cases in Kuala Lumpur up to 622.

The classification of Cheras as a Red Zone also brings up the total number of critical areas in the country up to 18. Other Red Zones include Petaling, Hulu Langat, Gombak and Klang of Selangor; Seremban of Negeri Sembilan; Batu Pahat, Johor Bahru and Kluang of Johor; Hilir Perak and Kinta of Perak; Kota Bharu of Kelantan, Kuching of Sarawak; and Tawau of Sabah.

As of the noon of Sunday, 5 April, Malaysia has recorded 3662 cumulative cases, with 61 deaths. With only one more week to go before the Movement Control Order (MCO) is scheduled to end, it has become really harder to guess whether MCO will really be concluded on that date or otherwise.
