The Last Of Us TV Show Coming To HBO
The PlayStation 3 hit game The Last of Us will be coming to HBO as a TV show, according to the game’s director Neil Druckmann. The show will see Druckmann team up with Craig Mazin, who is known for writing and producing the network’s Chernobyl series.
While HBO and the upcoming show’s creators have not revealed the TV adaptation’s premise, Druckmann hinted on Twitter that it will indeed feature the game’s protagonists Ellie and Joel. Interestingly, this is one of the rarest moments in show business where a game’s creator is directly involved with the production of its adaptation process.
Ellie and Joel are heading to HBO! But first… we got a little game to finish! https://t.co/eMIy5gmUiw

THR reports that HBO’s Carolyn Straus will executive produce the TV adaptation along with Naughty Dog president Evan Wells. Additionally, the project is a collaboration between the network and Sony Pictures Television, in association with PlayStation Productions. It’s also worth noting that the show will be the latter’s first ever TV series.
The game’s HBO series’ premiere date has not been announced at this time. The same can be said for the potential casting of its characters as well. On the other hand, The Last of Us 2 – the sequel to critically acclaimed 2013 PS3 game – is slated to be released for the PlayStation 4 in May 2020.
