No Time to Die: Latest Bond Movie Postponed Due to Coronavirus

Most James Bond fans have been super pumped for No Time to Die. After all, not only is No Time to Die Craig’s (my personal favourite Bond) last outing as the titular character, the film itself is billed as a huge game-changing event, something that could potentially shake the landscape of the James Bond universe. The film was initially set for an April 2020 date and fan excitement was already near its peak. Unfortunately, it looks like we’ll have to wait a little longer before the movie hits theatres.

MGM, Universal and Bond Producers, Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli have announced that No Time to Die will be postponed to 24 November 2020 due to growing fears of Covid-19 in the United States and across the globe, according to Collider. The official James Bond Twitter account had this to say:

MGM, Universal and Bond producers, Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, announced today that after careful consideration and thorough evaluation of the global theatrical marketplace, the release of NO TIME TO DIE will be postponed until November 2020.

The news doesn’t exactly come as a shock as publicity tours for Bond 25 in Asian countries had already been cancelled as precautionary measures. Theatres in countries like Italy, China, South Korea and Japan have also been temporarily closed as nations across the globe try to keep the whole coronavirus situation under control.

Official synopsis of No Time to Die:

In No Time To Die, James Bond has left active service and is enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica. His peace is short-lived when his old friend Felix Leiter from the CIA turns up asking for help. The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology.

James Bond No Time to Die is set to open in Malaysian cinemas on 24 November 2020.
