Call of Duty: Warzone Hits 30 Million Players In Less Than A Fortnight
Call of Duty: Warzone (COD Warzone) has only been on the market for less than a month, but has rapidly gained a very large fan base. So large, in fact, that the battle royale title managed to gain 30 million players in just 10 days, and that number is still climbing.
To put that number into perspective, Warzone has effectively broken Respawn Entertainment’s Apex Legends record of 25 million players. When it launched back in 2019.
One reason behind Warzone’s massive player surge in such a short period of time is obviously due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. As the situation continues to worsen, people around the world have been asked to self-quarantine and to work from home. Unsurprisingly, many of these individuals are gamers looking for ways to stem the boredom and have turned to games such as Warzone, among many others.

Of course, another obvious reason behind Warzone’s popularity is that the game is free-to-play and does not require players to purchase the base game, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, which launched last September. Further, it is one of the few battle royale titles that supports up to 150 players, with each player placed in three-man squads.
Speaking of which, you if you already own the reboot of the original Modern Warfare, Warzone is already accessible via the base game’s main menu. Moreover, Call of Duty: Warzone also supports cross-platform play, meaning that you can go up against other players on PC, Xbox One, or the PlayStation 4.
