Sony Xperia 1 II Now Official; Features 20fps Burst Shooting

Following the leaks from earlier, Sony has finally officially unveiled the Xperia 1 II. The company’s new generation flagship features the updated specs which we saw from the leaks. This confirms basically everything that we saw earlier, some of which are very impressive for a phone.

We know the Sony Xperia 1 II comes with a 6.5-inch 21:9 4K HDR display. The company has also confirmed that it also features motion blur tech that “is equivalent to that of a  90Hz display”.

On the inside, it runs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset, and alongside it is an X55 5G modem. This allows it to benefit from sub-6GHz networks. Also confirmed are the 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, as well as the 4000mAh battery that supports wireless charging.

The cameras are where the Sony Xperia 1 II is most impressive. And it gives the impression that the infighting between the company’s Xperia and Alpha divisions have really come to an end.

To start, it has three 12MP cameras at the back. While not impressive on the pixel count, they come in focal lengths of 16mm, 24mm and 70mm. This essentially gives you three different zoom levels while maintaining image quality. They are also able to take up to 20 burst shots in a second, and make AF/AE adjustments up to 60 times a second.

Despite the official announcement, Sony did not share any pricing details on the Xperia 1 II. All we got is that the phone will ship beginning late spring 2020, which is would be around June.
