Next-Generation Sony Xperia Phones Leaked Ahead Of Official Reveal

Sony was set to announce its new Xperia phones as part of a live stream in lieu of a presentation at MWC 2020. But before it could happen, details about what the company is about to announce got leaked. Max Weinbach of XDA revealed that they are basically the next generation Sony Xperia 1 and Xperia 10.

According to the images that Weinbach tweeted, the phones will be called the Sony Xperia 1 II and Xperia 10 II. But Weinbach also suggests that they could be called the Sony Xperia 1 Mark 2 (or Mark II), a naming style more commonly associated with cameras.

The same goes with the next Sony Xperia 10, which could be known as either the Xperia 10 II or Xperia 10 Mark II.

And finally, we get to the phones’ hardware. The Xperia 1 II will come with a 6.5-inch 21:9 4K HDR OLED display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset, 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The battery is rated at 4000mAh, and supports wireless charging. And in true Sony Xperia fashion, the phones come with an IP65/68 rating.

For its cameras, the Sony Xperia 1 II has a triple 12MP camera setup at its back. On the front it has an 8MP shooter. It’s not sitting in a notch, as the phone still has a slight forehead and chin to it. But best of all, the Xperia 1 features the increasingly rare 3.5mm audio jack.

As for the Sony Xperia 10 II, we’ll be looking at a 6-inch 21:9 Full HD+ OLED display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 chipset, 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The battery is a 3600mAh unit, and the phone itself will sport an IP65/68 rating.

The Xperia 10 II will also come with a triple camera setup at the back. But rather than thre 12MP units , this one comes with a 12MP +8MP + 8MP combo. The front-facing camera is also an 8MP unit. This phone will also come with the 3.5mm audio jack, which is amazing.

These leaks do look very convincing. But until the official reveal by Sony, it’s better to take these with the pinch of salt.
