Netflix Reportedly Working On Resident Evil TV Series

Sources have reported that video streaming service Netflix is allegedly working on a TV series adaptation of Capcom’s popular survival horror franchise Resident Evil. A synopsis of the show was recently listed in the service’s Media Center section on its website before being removed entirely.

Resident Evil Wiki managed to archive dig up an archived version of the page by using Wayback Machine and screenshot the now-removed synopsis by Netflix. They also added that the show’s synopsis was initially discovered by Portuguese-based fansite called Resident Evil Database on 7 February 2020. Additionally, Deadline also reported on the series’ development by Netflix back in January, further mentioning that Constantin Film (the studio behind the Resident Evil movies) are also involved in the project.

According to the synopsis, Netflix’s Resident Evil show is set 26 years after the discovery of Umbrella Corporation’s T-Virus and takes place in the fictional town of Clearfield, Maryland. Other locations mentioned are “the decommissioned Greenwood Asylum” and Washington D.C. which are somehow involved in the virus’ creation and outbreak.

For now, it’s uncertain if Netflix’s Resident Evil show will be an animated feature or a live action adaptation. Aside from Constantin Film’s supposed involvement, no other names have been tied to the project in terms of directing, production or casting.
