Square Enix Pushes Back Final Fantasy VII Remake Release To 10 April 2020

It’s never a pleasant feeling whenever a video games developer makes the decision to delay the release of a hotly anticipated title. In the case of Square Enix, the Japanese developer announced that it was pushing back the launch of the upcoming Final Fantasy VII (FFVII) Remake by approximately one month.

As per its official statement, the new release date for FFVII Remake has been shifted from 3 March to 10 April 2020. Yoshinari Kitase, the producer of the game, explains that the decision was a necessary evil. In order to give both him and his team a few extra weeks to “apply final polish to the game” that will deliver the “best possible experience”.

In addition to FFVII Remake, Square Enix’s subsidiary studio, Crystal Dynamics, also announced that it was pushing back the launch date of the Marvel Avengers game as well, from 15 May to 4 September this year. Square Enix, the studio says that it wanted to spend more time polishing and fine-tuning the game.

All things considered, it’s not wrong to say that April 2020 is going to be a very busy month; apart from FFVII Remake, Capcom’s Resident Evil 3 Remake will be launching on 3 April, while CD Projekt Red’s highly anticipated Cyberpunk 2077 will also be landing on all platforms on 16 April.

That said, March won’t be too lonely a month; after all, we’ve still got DOOM Eternal to look forward to.
