Razer Announces Kishi Mobile Controller; Compatible With Android and iOS Phones

Razer has announced the Kishi mobile controller at CES 2020. While it may not be meant as a followup to last year’s Junglecat, it can be seen as an  improvement.

The maker of gaming peripherals says that the Razer Kishi is a universal mobile gaming controller. Compatible devices include every iPhone starting from iPhone 6, and every Samsung Galaxy device beginning from the S8 and Note 8. As for other Android devices, Razer says the Kishi will work with phones running Android 7 Nougat or newer.

Unlike the Junglecat, the Razer Kishi connects to your device using either USB-C or a Lightning connector. This allows the Kishi to draw power straight from the connected device. It also comes with pass-through charging ports so that you can play while charging your device.

Based on the words Razer chose, it looks like the USB-C and Lightning connector models are two distinct variants. But for what it’s worth, the clamp on the controller itself looks to be universal.

It also comes with the Xbox button layout, with the left analogue stick and the D-pad switching positions. Hopefully there will be a version that uses the PlayStation layout as well.

Razer did not share pricing details of the Kishi, but did say that it will be available in early 2020. If and when it makes its way here, we can probably expect it to have a price similar to the Jungecat.
