Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold Finally Goes Official: Carries A Price Tag of USD 2499

True to its promise back in May 2019, Lenovo today has officially revealed the full details of its ThinkPad X1 Fold. Still being touted as the first ever foldable PC in the world, the device is said to have been in development for more than four years.

Equipped with a flexible 13.3-inch QXGA (2048 x 1536) pOLED touch display with brightness level of 300nit and DCI-P3 coverage of 95%, the device is powered by a yet-to-be-named Intel Core processor. Since the chip also apparently features “Intel Hybrid Technology”, there is a possibility that it is the upcoming Intel Lakefield processor which features hybrid computing architecture.

Thanks to its foldable nature, users can choose to utilize the 5G-ready X1 Fold in so many ways. If they prefer to use it like a traditional laptop, they can put in a landscape mode with the help of the integrated kickstand inside the device’s leather folio case.

From there, they can choose to type directly on the lower part of the screen or uses the Bluetooth Mini Fold Keyboard which can be stored and wirelessly charged inside the X1 Fold itself when you closed it up. Of course, users can also choose to utilize the X1 Fold which also comes standard with an active pen just like a tablet.

Said to weight at just under 1kg, the X1 Fold is equipped with 8GB LPDDR4X-4267 RAM and storage option of up to 1TB PCIe NVMe solid state drive. It will also come with a 5MP HD RGB infrared webcam and a 50Whr battery which apparently able to provide the X1 Fold with up to 11 hours of battery life.

In terms of availability, Lenovo aims to release the X1 Fold by the middle of this year with an expected price tag that starts from USD 2,499 (~RM 10,233). We’ll keep you posted once we hear more from Lenovo Malaysia regarding its plan for the X1 Fold in our market.
