Klipsch Over-Ear ANC Headphones Will Have A McLaren Edition That Costs US$549
Klipsch is set to reveal its first pair of wireless over-ear headphones next week at CES 2020. Known simply as Over-Ear ANC, the headphones will be showcased alongside the brand’s other products, including its new T10 True Wireless in-ear earphones, along with the latest additions to its T5 True Wireless range.
Let’s start with the Over-Ear’s noise-cancellation feature. According to Klipsch, the Over-Ear ANC will provide 40dB of ANC and will reportedly include a mode that enables users to automatically deactivate the feature. Just so that they can tune in to the surrounding noise.
Battery-wise, the Over-Ear ANC is able to provide 30 hours of non-stop playback on a single charge, while a 10-minute charge will give users five hours of power. On that point, the headphones support fast-charging that is conducted via USB-C, and the included FlightCase can be used to charge the headphones. Without the need to even remove them.
Like Klipsch’s True Wireless products, the Over-Ear ANC will support SBC, Qualcomm’s aptX HD, and AAC codecs out of the box, while connectivity is conducted via Bluetooth 5. As pointed out by Engadget, the inclusion of the AAC codec is a generous move, especially since not all Android smartphones, be it high-end or mid-range, come with support for aptX HD.
To be clear, the Over-Ear ANC isn’t the first pair of over-ear headphones Klipsch has ever made; that honour and designation belongs to the HP-3, which is part of the brand’s Heritage product lineup.
Klipsch says the Over-Ear ANC headphones are expected to ship out in the US first, around the third quarter of 2020, and will retail at an SRP of US$399 (~RM1636).
As the title of this article suggests, the Klipsch Over-Ear ANC will also be available in a special McLaren flavour, meaning that the headphones will be adorned with the British motor racing group’s signature Papaya Orange and Azure Blue, plus that undeniably alluring carbon fibre design. Unsurprisingly, it’s also going to cost a pretty penny at US$549 (~RM2252).
On another note, it appears that the McLaren treatment isn’t restricted to just the Over-Ear ANC headphones; Klipsch’s press kit shows the T5 True Wireless Sport and T10 True Wireless decked out with the same colour and motif.
