Fujifilm Debuts X-T200 Mid-Range APS-C Mirrorless Camera

Japanese camera maker Fujifilm has debuted the new X-T200 mid-range mirrorless camera. The camera is a successor to 2018’s X-T100 which features an improved sensor with better video performance, autofocus (AF) and other upgrades in a lightweight and compact body.

The Fujifilm X-T200 packs a new 24.2MP APS-C CMOS image sensor that’s able to shoot up to 8fps in burst mode, process data 3.5x faster, and reduces rolling shutter when capturing still images. On top of that, the camera also features an on-sensor phase detect system that provides enhanced autofocus performance, as well as Face/Eye Detection AF for better tracking.

The X-T200 was designed with the likes of filmmakers and vloggers in mind and vastly improves in providing video capture features. Its new sensor allows for 4K/30fps and 1080p/120fps video recordings, and the camera also includes a special HDR video mode for high-contrast capture, as well as Fujifilm’s various film simulation modes.

Perhaps one of the most interesting features found on the X-T200 is its “Digital Gimbal Function.” As the name implies, the function uses an in-body gyro sensor that enables the camera to capture extra-stable video footage, without the need of using an actual gimbal accessory. At least, that’s what Fujifilm is claiming anyway.

Other than that, the new camera is said to weigh 80g less than its predecessor, coming in at only 370g. Aside from the optical viewfinder as well as the occasional buttons and dials, the X-T200 also features a 3.5-inch vari-angle LCD touchscreen display that can be tilted while it is flipped out.

Additionally, the company also introduced the Fujinon XC 35mm f/2 APS-C prime lens. The new lens features a full-frame equivalent focal length of 52mm and is equipped with a stepping motor for a “quick and near silent” AF operation.

The Fujifilm X-T200 will be available in late February in three colour selections: Silver, Dark Silver, and Champagne. The camera is priced at US$700 (~RM2850) for body only, and US$800 (~RM3256) when kitted out with a Fujinon XC 15-45mm f/3.5-5.6 OIS power zoom lens. Meanwhile, the Fujinon XC 35mm will be released at the same time and priced at US$199 (~RM810).

The camera, its bundle and the new 35mm lens has not been confirmed to be released in Malaysia at this current time. We’ve reached out to Fujifilm Malaysia for further information regarding this and will keep you posted.
