Nope, Samsung Didn’t Sell One Million Galaxy Fold

It was widely reported by media throughout the world (including us) that Samsung has sold one million unit of its Galaxy Fold smartphone. As it turns out, that is not the case.

Originally, the one million sales figure came from a statement made by Sohn Young-kwon, the President of Samsung Electronic at TechCrunch Disrupt Berlin conference. Samsung since then has stated that its executive might have confused the sales figure with the company’s original sales target.

Hence, the company has clarified that the sales number for Galaxy Fold has actually yet to reach one million units. However, Samsung didn’t reveal the real sales number though.

Since the foldable phone is being sold in Malaysia for RM 8,388, it might be hard to imagine that the company is able to sell one million unit of it. Regardless of that, we have been hearing rumours that a successor is already in the works anyway which means the form factor is here to stay for the time being.
