Intel Core i3 CPU with Hyperthreading Reportedly In The Works

It’s no secret that Intel has been having a bit of a dry spell; aside from the high-end Core i9-9900KS, the semiconductor maker has not released any other CPU for the mainstream consumer market. Now, a new rumour is suggesting that Intel could be working on a new Core i3 CPU, but one with hyperthreading capabilities.

The rumours comes by way of a UserBenchmark entry, found by Thai-based Twitter user APISAK (@TUM_APISAK). According to his post, the new Core-3-10300 is listed as a 4-cores, 8-thread CPU, with a base clock of 3.7GHz and a turbo boost clock of 4.2GHz.

The accuracy of this leak is debatable, at best. But given APISAK’s credibility when it comes to these things, the likelihood of this CPU actually existing is pretty high. Of course, if this does turn out to be true, it would also be the first Core i3 CPU to ship out with Hyperthreading capabilities.

At this point, APISAK’s tweet doesn’t provide a release date, but given its codename, this could be an entry-level option for Intel’s next Comet Lake-S lineup. In any case, do take this with a pinch of salt, at least until Intel’s next official announcement.
