CD Projekt GOG Galaxy 2.0 Game Launcher Now In Open Beta

Back in May this year, CD Projekt, the publishing arm of its developers studio, CD Projekt Red (CDPR), gave its GOG Galaxy game launcher a major makeover and renamed it as GOG Galaxy 2.0. Fast forward to today, and the launcher has finally transcended into open beta.

To recap, the GOG Galaxy 2.0 launcher is a client that functions similarly like other game clients, such as Steam, Origin, or Epic Games Store. What sets CD Projekt’s game launcher apart is how its lists down DRM-free titles bought via the clients, without removing the respective launchers of each title.

Instead, GOG Galaxy 2.0 lets launch any and all game from one single location, plus the option to close a title’s required client when you’re done playing the game for the day or if you’re just done with it.

Unifying all titles across all platforms are not just all CD Projekt wants to do either. With the open beta, GOG Galaxy 2.0 adds an all-in-one friends list on the right side of the app that is collapsible, and functions like you’d expect. On a related note, the feature doesn’t have chat functionality yet, but considering the launcher itself is still in beta phase. It’s only a matter of time before the publisher makes that a reality.

If you’re interested in the GOG Galaxy 2.0 Open Beta launcher, you can download it via its official page.
