AMD Ryzen 4000 Mobile CPUs May Arrive In 2020; Based On 7nm Zen 2 Architecture

AMD’s presence in the laptop space is currently represented by its 2nd generation Ryzen 3000 mobile CPUs that, frankly, isn’t as potent as Intel’s own current notebook CPUs. That may change next year, as rumours are now suggesting that the semiconductor maker plans on releasing its Ryzen 4000 series next year.

According to Videocardz, initial rumours first suggested that AMD is working on a Ryzen 9 4900H and Ryzen 7 4800H, the former housing an 8-cores, 16-threads layout. As part of its “H” series of CPUs, they are also expected to ship out with Simultaneous Multi-Threading (SMT) enabled.

Additionally, it also appears that the AMD is planning on releasing Ryzen 5 4600H and 4600HS processors alongside the Ryzen 7 4800H. Moreover, it seems that these CPUs will be making their way to what has been listed down as ASUS GA401 and GA502 notebooks (courtesy of LambdaTek).

However, the main takeaway here is that – like AMD’s current desktop CPU lineup – its new mobile Ryzen CPUs will be based on its 7nm die lithography, along with its Zen 2 CPU architecture.

Of course, while rumours suggest that AMD’s next-generation notebook CPUs will be made available next year, it’s still not clear when exactly AMD intends to do so. However, industry sources have told us it’s highly possible that devices fitted with these CPUs will be making their debut during CES 2020.

And on that note, we just have to wait another couple of weeks in order to find out.
