Touch ‘n Go 10-Percent Parking Surcharge Will Come To An End; 50 Sen Reload Charge Remains

The Deputy Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister, Chong Chieng Jen has revealed that Touch ‘n Go (TnG) is working to remove its 10% parking surcharge policy very soon. This revelation was made at the Parlimen in response to a query by Ayer Hitam’s MP, Wee Ka Siong.

According to the minister, the surcharge was apparently a contractual obligation between TnG and car park operators that support multi-payment system. Hence, the removal will be done in stage, during contract renewal for its existing contractors as well with future contractors.

The minister has apparently pointed out that car park operator that solely rely on TnG as payment option does not impose such surcharge. Meanwhile, another type of TnG surcharge which is the 50 sen reload surcharge will remain though.

For this particular surcharge, it is apparently imposed by retail and service operators themselves instead of TnG, according to the minister.  He further added that there are 2,880 locations out of 11,168 TnG reload points throughout Malaysia that don’t impose the 50 sen reload surcharge.
