Path Of Exile 2 Is Now Official; To Enter Beta Late 2020

Blizzard announced its much anticipated Diablo 4 during BlizzCon 2019. Now, it’s the turn of Grinding Gear Games, the developers of Path of Exile. The free-to-play competitor to Blizzard’s Diablo series has just announced Path of Exile 2 during its annual ExileCon event in Auckland, New Zealand this weekend.

As a proper sequel, Path of Exile 2 will feature a new seven act campaign. It take place 20 years after the events of the first. There will also be a new set of character archetypes, with a total of 19 new ascendancy classes.

Path of Exile 2 will also have all the expansion content that came to the first game. In addition to returning stuff, it will also feature a reworked skill system. You can also expect new equipment, and a reworked gear progression system. This will allow for easier character building without sacrificing the depth of the system.

There are a couple of other smaller updates to the game like better graphics and lighting as well. You can check out about 14 minutes of gameplay, as well as listen to the devs themselves explain the changes, in the preview below.

It all sounds plenty exciting, but don’t expect it to be out anytime soon. In fact, don’t even expect a beta  until “at least very late 2020” according to the devs. That’s about as far out there as Diablo 4, but at least we do have a beta window for Path of Exile 2.
