Canon Reportedly Working On New EOS DSLR With 80MP Sensor; Launching In 2020

Earlier this year, rumours online began to suggest that Canon was working on a new mirrorless EOS camera body. On top of that, it is also suggested that the would-be successor to the EOS R will boast a new, ultra-high megapixel sensor and that it would launch sometime in 2020.

According to CanonRumors, the new DSLR might house an 80MP full-frame image sensor and, among other things, serve as a replacement to the current EOS 5DS and EOS 5DS models. Further information suggests that it will also have a slightly larger body and grip, allowing for a more comfortable photography experience than the EOS R.

That’s not all either. The report also suggests that the new camera body will have both a larger LCD and viewfinder than the EOS R. Moreover, the rumours hint at a “tiltable” viewfinder, although this point is still largely unverified.

Once again, these specifications are merely rumours, as is the expected 2020 launch. At the time of writing, Canon has yet to make an official statement about the alleged camera body. So, take this news with a pinch of salt.
