Apple Disables Walkie-Talkie App On Apple Watch; Cites Eavesdropping Vulnerability

The Apple Watch Walkie-Talkie app has been disabled by its parent company, Apple itself. The fruit company cites an eavesdropping vulnerability as the reason behind its action.

According to a statement made by Apple, the vulnerability was made known to the brand via a report. Mercifully, there isn’t any evidence to suggest that it has been exploited by some unscrupulous people, so far.

This isn’t the first time that an eavesdropping bug had been discovered in Apple’s iOS software. Earlier this year, another vulnerability was discovered in Apple’s FaceTime app. Allowing people to listen in before a call was accepted. The bug affected the iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Apple released a fix for the bug a little more than a week after that.

At this time, Apple says that it is currently working on a fix for the Walkie-Talkie app bug, but fell short of saying when the fix would be available. Given the speed that it took to patch up the FaceTime bug, it wouldn’t surprise us if Apple Watch users get the fix in that same amount time.
