Google Stadia Can Use Over 15GB Of Data Per Hour

From what we can tell about Google Stadia, it’s not something that’s affordably accessible, to say the least. It costs almost as much a month as a Netflix subscription, and requires an internet connection of at least 35Mbps for 4K streaming. And from the latter, you can work out just the amount of data Stadia will burn through.

PC Gamer did the math, and you can burn through as much as 15.75GB per hour of 4K streaming. At lower resolutions, you’ll still need a connection of at least 20Mbps for Full HD streaming, and 10Mbps for 720p. This means 9GB per hour of Full HD streaming, and 4.5GB per hour at 720p.

In other words, Google Stadia will burn through metered connections’ quota in no time. Taking the 4K streaming as an example, you’ll use up 1TB of data in a mere 65 hours. You’ll go through 1TB of data in slightly over 111 hours streaming in Full HD, and over 222 hours for 720p.

All that said, this isn’t something that we need to worry about just yet. After all, Malaysia is not in the list of countries Google Stadia will initially launch in.
