Avengers: Endgame Wins Big at MTV Movie Awards

To nobody’s surprise, Avengers: Endgame won big at the MTV Movie and TV Awards this year. The 22nd entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe and climax to the Infinity Saga took home three awards: Best Movie, Best Hero and Best Villain. Weirdly, the movie didn’t take home the prize for Best Fight (Captain America vs Thanos). That award instead went to another MCU movie, Captain Marvel (Captain Marvel vs Minn-Erva). On a separate note, HBO’s mega-hit series Game of Thrones won Best Show, inching out Big Mouth, Riverdale, Schitt’s Creek and The Haunting of Hill House.

While the MTV Movie and TV Awards isn’t something prestigious and is generally seen as a just-for-fun throwaway event — heck the winners are chosen by the general public on the MTV website — it’s still nice to see the most pop-culturally relevant film of this generation garner more love even before awards season has finally kicked in.
