Grab Launches First Round Of Subsidies For Drivers; Aims To Help With New e-Hailing Regulations
Come 12 July 2019, new e-hailing regulations created by the Malaysian Ministry of Transport are set to go into effect. These new regulations are bound to affect many Grab drivers who rely on the ride-sharing service to survive. In light of the regulations, Grab has started introducing its first round of subsidies to help alleviate the costs and buden for its drivers.
Grab’s first phase of its initiative, dubbed as “Pakej Pikul Bersama”, will help its drivers to become familiar with the new government regulations. There are four sub-phases: Process Mapping, Medical Subsidy, PSV Training Subsidy, and Car Inspection Subsidy.
As per Grab’s statement, the Process Mapping sub-phase will help drivers to understand the new regulatory process in five easy-to-follow steps. In conjunction with that, Grab has also partnered with clinics around the country to reduce the cost of the now mandatory medical checkup to just RM20. Not only that, but the company also reimburse that amount back to drivers, regardless of the clinic they visit.
Grab is also providing an RM50 subsidy to drivers’ PSV (Personal Service Vehicle) training. Lastly, Grab will also fully subsidise the RM70 initial inspection cost that is required of vehicles that are three years or older.
You can find out about Grab’s first phase via their official page. Once again, this is just the first phase of Grab’s “Pakej Pikul Bersama” initiative, and the company will be rolling out further solutions over the coming weeks.
