Early John Wick: Chapter 3 Reviews Promise an Insane and Brutal Film

The first reactions to John Wick: Chapter 3 — Parabellum by critics who managed to catch the early screening in the US have started to flood social media. The first movie which came out in 2014 caught everybody by surprise. The film turned out to be a heart-stopping action flick that announced directors Chad Stahelski and David Leitch as some of the best action directors of all time. John Wick grossed close to $US 90 million at the global box office with a mere $US 20 million budget which all but guaranteed that we would get a sequel.

In 2017, John Wick: Chapter Two graced the big screens (this time helmed only by Stahelski as Leitch went on to make Deadpool 2 and Atomic Blonde) and once again blew the minds of fans and critics alike. Chapter Two expanded the mythos of the secret assassin community while also delivering insane action sequences. The film went on to make more than double of its predecessor at the global box office, raking in $US 171.5 million. Well, it looks like Chapter 3 will once again be an unforgettable ride.

Onto my proper #JohnWick3 reaction: Pure visceral cinema. After the dramatic world expansion of CHAPTER 2, CHAPTER 3 returns to a leaner, exhilarating story chock full of breathless, bone-crunching action and even a few laughs. I was sweating 30 minutes in. This movie RULES.

John Wick: Chapter 3 — Parabellum official synopsis: 

John Wick (Keanu Reeves) is on the run for two reasons … he’s being hunted for a global $14 million dollar open contract on his life, and for breaking a central rule: Taking a life on Continental Hotel grounds. The victim was a member of the High Table who ordered the open contract. John should have already been executed, except the Continental’s manager, Winston, has given him a one-hour grace period before he’s “excommunicado” – membership revoked, banned from all services, and cut off from other members. John uses the service industry to stay alive as he fights and kills his way out of New York City.

John Wick: Chapter 3 is set to his Malaysian cinemas 16 May 2019.
