Apple releases a new iPod touch with A10 Fusion chipset

This morning, a week ahead of the 2019 WWDC keynote presentation, Apple released a new iPod touch.

It’s been four years since the tech giant released a refreshed iPod touch, and the new version is packing some new internals.

It has the A10 Fusion chipset that first appeared in the iPhone 7 series of phones. This isn’t the lastest or greatest Apple chip, but it’s still snappy enough to get the job done.

The new iPod comes in six colours – Gold, Pink, Silver, Space Grey, Blue and of course Product Red. The device starts at $249 CAD for the 32GB model, goes up to $369 for the 128 GB model and finally the 256GB option rings in at $489. It’s for sale online today and will be in stores later this week, according to an Apple press release.

With the new chipset, the iPod touch can finally participate in Group FaceTime calls and utilize AR functionality in apps that support it.

Beyond that, it looks like the iPod is pretty much the same as the previous versions with its 4-inch LCD Retina display, headphone jack and 8MP camera.
