AMD Reportedly Sharing 12 And 16-Core Ryzen 3000 CPUs To Motherboard Partners

A couple of weeks ago, we reported on how AMD’s motherboard partners had already received some of the company’s Ryzen 3000 series CPUs for testing, which ranged from four cores to eight cores. Now it appears that the semiconductor company has already begun releasing its more powerful 12-cores and 16-cores variants to motherboard makers.

Hints of the CPUs with their high core counts were leaked via a tweet by popular leakster APISAK (@TUM_APISAK). To be precise, his tweet listed down that he discovered a 16-core CPU running on AMD’s upcoming Zen 2 CPU architecture. The further details its base and boost clock speed. Of 3.3GHz and 4.2GHz, respectively.

The tweet goes on to say that the CPU in question had been tested on an “MB X570”; clearly a direct reference to AMD’s upcoming X570 motherboard series. Unfortunately, APISAK was unable to decode the name of the CPU in question.

APISAK’s discovery of the CPU was also confirmed by technology YouTuber Jim (@AdoredTV). Who responded to APISAK’s tweet with one of his own. Saying that AMD was indeed sharing two CPU SKUs to motherboard makers.

And despite being unable to share any additional details on the matter, Jim ended his tweet saying that the 12-cores Ryzen 3000 CPU will have “really high clock speeds.” But is uncertain if the CPU’s performance and benchmark numbers will make online before their impending launch.

In any case, we’ll just have to wait until AMD’s Computex 2019 keynote this month to find out if its third generation Ryzen CPUs will be announced.
