Sony PlayStation 5 Specs Partially Revealed: AMD Ryzen CPU, Radeon Navi Graphics, Ray Tracing, 8K Support
In a rather interesting move by Sony, the hardware specifications of the company’s next-generation PlayStation console has officially been revealed through a story by Wired. Well, not all of them though but we suppose it is enough to get a lot of people out there excited for now.
For starters, Sony apparently has not yet officially confirmed the name of the console. According to Wired’s story, the console is being referred to as “next-gen console” by Mark Cerny which is the Lead System Architect for PlayStation 4 as well as its upcoming successor.
Through the article, Mark has confirmed that the new PlayStation is powered by a custom AMD chip which contains 7nm Zen 2-based 8-core Ryzen CPU alongside a Navi-based Radeon graphics. Mark also stated that the chip will support ray tracing and 8K resolution.
The chip also contained a section specially reserved for 3D audio that developers can take advantage in order to deliver immersion to their games. The new console will also come with an unknown type of solid state drive that apparently have higher bandwidth than any SSDs for PC.
If you have a huge collection of PS4 games and also owned PSVR headset, worry not as the new PlayStation console will continue to support them. In fact, some new games will be made available for both PS4 and the next-gen PlayStation during their release later.
However, it is going to be sometime before you are able to get your hands on the new PlayStation though as it will not be released within this year. Well, this means that you still have enough time to save some money for the new console.
