NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Is Now Official: Still Carries TU116 GPU But With GDDR5 Memory

It was only a few weeks ago that NVIDIA has launched the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti which has lowered the access price for Turing-based cards. The barrier has now been lowered further with the unveiling of GeForce GTX 1660 graphics cards.

Just like the GTX 1660 Ti, the new GTX 1660 is also equipped with TU116 GPU which is designed to provide a balance between performance, power consumption, and cost. While both cards come with 6GB of VRAM, the GTX 1660 utilizes GDDR5 memory instead of GDDR6 as per GTX 1660 Ti.

As you might know, the GPU also doesn’t come with RT and Tensor Core which means that the GTX 1660 not able to support DLSS and ray tracing as opposed to the higher-end GeForce RTX cards. Similarly, NVIDIA also didn’t produce Founders Edition card for GTX 1660.

Fret not though, plenty of NVIDIA add-in board partners have come out with their own take on GTX 1660 including ASUS, Colorful, EVGA, Gainward, GIGABYTE, Inno3d, MSI, Palit, and ZOTAC. Price-wise, the GeForce GTX 1660 also has a lower starting price of USD 219 as compared to GTX 1660 Ti which starts at USD 279.

Consumers throughout the world able to check out the card starting from today, 14 March onwards. We were informed that GTX 1660 will be made available through NVIDIA GeForce Official Store on Lazada Malaysia soon as well.
