Malaysia eSports Squad Selection For SEA Games 2019: Registration Is Now Open

Few months have passed since we heard proper news regarding the eSports category for the upcoming SEA Games 2019. For those who wondering on how they can represent Malaysia to the event, we hope that you have practiced enough as the squad selection will begin from this month onwards.

eSports Malaysia Association (ESM) has recently opened the official website for the national selection in which gamers can register themselves in order to participate in the qualifying events that take place throughout the country. As a reminder, the official titles for SEA Games 2019 are Arena of Valor, Dota 2, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Starcraft II, and Tekken 7.

According to the FAQ section of the website, a major part of the selection will take place online although some states will still feature offline events. Nevertheless, only the winner of state qualifiers will be able to move forward to the national stage.

Here is the schedule of the state qualifiers that have been shared by ESM on its Facebook page:

Full Online State Qualifiers

5 – 6 April: Kelantan

6 – 7 April: Melaka

13 – 14 April: Pahang, Putrajaya, Selangor

TBA: Labuan, Perak, Kedah

Full Offline State Qualifiers

5 – 7 April: Sarawak (early stage) – Eternity eSports Center, Miri

12 – 13 April: Terengganu – TD 1303, Kuala Terengganu

12 – 14 April: Sarawak (final stage) – CityONE Megamall, Kuching

13 – 14 April: Johor – CIMB Leadership Academy, Iskandar Puteri

 Negeri Sembilan

6 – 7 April: AOV online qualifier

6 – 7 April: Mobile Legends and Tekken 7 offline qualifiers – KiP Mart, Senawang

13 – 14 April: Dota 2 and Starcraft II offline qualifiers – Forbidden City Internet Café, Seremban

Perlis

13 – 14 April: AOV, Starcraft II, and Tekken 7 online qualifiers

13 – 14 April: Mobile Legends, and Dota 2 offline qualifiers – venue TBA

Penang

13 – 14 April: Dota 2, Starcraft II, and AOV online qualifiers

20 – 21 April: Mobile Legends, and Tekken 7 offline qualifiers – Mydin Mall Bertam

Sabah

30 – 31 March: AOV and Starcraft II offline district qualifiers for Tawau and Sandakan – venue TBA

6 – 7 April: Dota 2, and Mobile Legends offline district qualifiers for Kota Kinabalu – venue TBA

13 – 14 April: Dota 2, Mobile Legends, and Tekken 7 offline state qualifiers – Karamunsing Complex, Kota Kinabalu

13 – 14 April: Starcraft II and AOV online qualifiers.

Kuala Lumpur

Qualifier dates will be updated by ESM soon.

Based on the rules and regulations documents that ESM has posted on the website, the exact group of gamers that eligible to join the national boot camp for SEA Games 2019 after the national stage depends on respective games. For Dota 2, AOV, and Tekken 7, only the national champion will be absorbed to the boot camp.

However, Mobile Legends and Starcraft II somehow received more slots for camp with top 2 teams and 4 players respectively. Meanwhile, the FAQ has also stated that there is no cash prize pool for the winners of this national selection event although it is not clear if they will receive other types of prizes.
