TCL announces three new mid-range Alcatel phones at MWC 2019

TCL-owned Alcatel has announced that it’s bringing three new affordable devices to the market this year called the Alcatel 3, 3L and 1S.

Alcatel 3

The Alcatel 3 is one of the company’s highest-end offering. The phone has a 5.9-inch display with a 720 x 1560 pixel resolution. There’s a very small notch along its top edge, giving the screen an 88 percent screen to body ratio.

Inside the phone has a Qualcomm 439 octa-core processor with clock speeds of up to 2.0 GHz and 3 to 4 GB of RAM depending on the phone’s storage tier. So the 32GB model comes with 3GB of RAM, and the 64GB version comes with 4GB.

The phone does have expandable storage via MicroSD cards.

The phone also has a 3,500 mAh battery so it should get through a whole day without issues.

On the outside, the device has three cameras, two on the back for real-time bokah and a single shooter on the front. The rear cameras are 13 megapixels and 5 megapixels. The rear shooters capture images with an f 2.0 and f 2.4 apertures respectively.

The front camera captures 8-megapixel images with an f 2.0 aperture.

Alcatel 3L

The Alcatel 3L is pretty much the same as the standard 3, but it has a flatter finish on the back and comes with 16GB of internal storage. Although, it can still be upgraded with up to 128GB of MicroSD card memory.

Notably, it’s missing the fingerprint scanner from the Alcatel 3.

Both devices also come with 3.5mm headphone ports and Android 8.1.

Alcatel 1S

The final phone that Alcatel announced is called the 1S and its the lowest-tier in Alcatel’s lineup. This phone doesn’t have a notch, but it’s the only one with Android 9 Pie.

On the outside, the phone has a 5.5-inch display with a pixel resolution of 720 x 1440. The main drawback of this screen is that it only supports two touch points instead of five like the other new devices.

The rear cameras are 13 and 5 megapixels each with the lens having an f/2.0 and f/2.8 apertures respectively. The rear cameras can shoot in Manual mode, night shot, burst shot, filter, HDR, face beautification, panorama, bokeh, time lapse, 90 fps slow motion and more.

The front facing camera captures 5-megapixel images with an f 2.2 aperture. It also has Bokeh, face beautification, HDR, night shot and filters.

On the inside, the 1S has a 3,060 mAh battery and 32 GB of internal storage which is expandable up to 128 GB with a MicroSD card.
