Ricoh Theta Z1 Offers 360 Degree Raw Videos; Priced At RM4064

Ricoh has just announced a new addition to its surround video camera, the Theta Z1. Like its predecessor, the device still features dual wide-angle lenses for 360-degree capture. The main difference being the new 1-inch sensor and the ability to perform RAW captures.

The camera can capture 23MP (6720 x 3360 pixels) still images. At the same time, it also records 4K/30p (3840×1920 pixels) 360-degree video through is dual 1-inch backside-illuminated CMOS sensor with a maximum sensitivity of ISO 6400. The lens features variable apertures between F/2.1, F/3.5 and F/5.6.

Ricoh also beefed up the Theta Z1’s image processing algorithm. As well as gave it better image capture support. There is a new HDR rendering mode, Interval Composite mode for recording star trails, and a multi-bracket mode. To that end, images can be output as JPEGs or Adobe DNG RAW files.

Camera control is simplified further with a new 0.93-inch OLED status screen. The 1/4-inch tripod mount is still present, and support for both iOS and Android is baked in. Images and videos captured on the Z1 can be posted directly on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, YouTube and even Google Maps.

The US pre-order for the Ricoh Theta Z1 is already available online, with the camera priced at an SRP of US$999.95 (~RM4064). At the time of writing, there’s still no word about Malaysian availability or pricing.
