Reggie Fils-Aimé To Step Down As VP Of Nintendo; Will Be Replace By Doug Bowser

If you’ve been closely following Nintendo, then you’re likely familiar with the name Reggie Fils-Aimé. Being president of Nintendo of America, he’s basically the company’s spokesperson in the English-speaking world. And he has recently announced his retirement from the company.

Fils-Aimé has been with Nintendo for 16 years, and his tenure ends in April. Taking his place will be VP of marketing, Doug Bowser.

“And with a name like Bowser, who better to hold the keys to the Nintendo Castle?” Fils-Aimé teased.

Bowser joined Nintendo of America in 2015, so he’s pretty new to the company, at least compared to Fils-Aimé. That said, TechSpot reports that he’s the one responsible for turning around the Switch‘s slow start in 2017, into the success story it became in 2018.

So it looks like the English-speaking side of the company that made Mario will be run by the namesake of Mario’s primary antagonist. But if he’s responsible for the success of the Switch, then the company is likely in good hands.
